Por Ahmed
No recuerdo exactamente cómo conocí a Ahmed, pero en el fondo están la Facultad de Periodismo de la Universidad de La Habana y el diario Granma. Entre ambas ‘instituciones’ está el escenario de nuestra amistad, que hubo un tiempo que tomó por otros derroteros.
Ahmed me enseñó, por ejemplo, a montar bicleta. En el crudo año 1990 en que sin una bicicleta china era imposible moverse por La Habana, Ahmed fue mi conductor y yo su parrillera. Hasta que no quedó otra que aprender a hacer equilibrio. Por ahí debe andar una foto de él corriendo justo a mi lado, en mi primera incursión contra una cerca. Gracias a mi paciencia infinita, Ahmed aprobó Filosofía Marxista en el primer año del curso para trabajadores que le permitió licenciarse en Periodismo Gráfico. Ahmed y yo pasamos muchas horas juntos en el laboratorio de fotografía del Granma, muchos fines de semana en Jaimanitas y varias noches en un parque de Playa. Eso fue hace catorce años y desde entonces han llovido muchas cosas. Tal vez la última fue su hijo, del que no se cansaba de mandarme fotos. Estaba orgulloso de su obra más bonita.
Ahmed sufrió un infarto el pasado 29 de diciembre. Un corazón de 39 años, aunque sea inmenso como el suyo, no aguanta esos trotes.
